Your Glow on the Ganges 79

Please support our GLOW ON THE GANGES project. It is a unique opportunity to remember someone special, share a future dream, goal or celebrate anyone of anything that is dear to you. You are contributing to creating a special memory: a flotilla of candles on the River Ganges, and the creation of this special dedication book. At the same time you'll be supporting the valuable work of the Spinal Injuries Association (SIA) www.spinal.co.uk

In October 2018, Paralympic handcycling champion and keen supporter of SIA, Karen Darke, and her special friends Christine Graham and Kevin Benstead, will cycle a route nicknamed  'The Spiritual Way'*, following the River Ganges from source to its spiritual centre in Varanasi. Their journey will begin high in the Himalaya at the Gangotri glacier beside the source of the river, where they will light a flotilla of candles and send them downstream. The vision is to create a unique opportunity to bring together lots of special dedications: hopes, memories, dreams and moments.

The team hope it will be a beautiful thing to see, whilst also having real meaning and purpose aligned with it :)

A huge THANK YOU to ADIDAS UK and BBRAUN for supporting the Quest 79 project and enabling all this to be possible.

*"The Spiritual Way' is part of a greater project, Quest 79. It will be the 5th of the Quest 79 cycle journeys (7 continents, 9 rides). Quest 79 is a project to encourage you to connect with your passion, bring friends and people together and help others at the same time by raising money for a good cause - the Spinal Injuries Association (SIA).

Karen Darke's personal Quest 79 is to cycle a minimum of 7,900km around the world, involving a significant long bike journey on each of the 7 continents. She cycles with friends, lives simply and basically, and rides as lightweight as her wheelchair and kit will allow! See more at www.karendarke.com/blog and the Quest 79 links from the home page.

The team invite you to take on your very own Quest 79. Invent your own challenge, or take part in one of our challenges in connection with the SIA. It doesn’t matter how small or large it may seem, as long as it feels exciting, challenging and something that takes you a little bit out of your comfort zone. You may need a few drops of courage to face some fear and get started, but your journey will be special and seemingly magical things will unfold. It could be any journey that inspires you, or it could be connected to the number 79. For example, choose an activity to travel 79m, 79km, 790km or whatever you choose to stretch yourself and have fun with friends.

If you can raise some funds through your challenge, it would be great if you could add them here. Collectively we hope we can make the fundraising target of £79,000.

THANK YOU
